Purfled Regal Ca. 1930 with hardshell case
Cool, clean lines and very gentle wear over the years give this guitar such a crisp look all over. This guitar had 30’s Chicago writ up and down, I love so I leaned in with the Larson inspired guard and bridge. The big purfling pattern shows big defined blocks of color all the way across a room while the guard, bridge and fingerboard inlays keep up with the boldness and stark color contrasts.
This fine old top didn’t hold back any either. I have really come to prefer the sound of these smaller guitars - here with a full, round solid fundamental punch with nice forward leaning zing I associate with hot spruce. A perfect easy fingerpicker that projects a complex beauty with the lightest touch and also a snarling hot flat picker that with serious definition across a full chord.
